The Beer Page

A list of beer we’ve had on the trip.

Big Sky Belgian Pale Ale (L2)

When we had it
THE ROAST CAFE, Silver City (Mark)

What we thought
It must have been good because he had three of them!

Dos Equis Special Lager (L2)

When we had it
La Posta DeMesilla, Mesilla, NM (Mark, Tim)
Los Bandidos De Carlos & Mickey’s, El Paso (all)
After final ride of L2 (all)

What we thought
A major development has occurred: Tim has found his beer. He loves it so much that he called Marcia and asked her to pick up a case of it.

Dos Equis Amber Lager (L2)

When we had it
Los Bandidos De Carlos & Mickey’s, El Paso (Tim)

What we thought
“This tastes just like the other one.”

Corona Extra (L2)

When we had it
Los Gringos Locos, Apache Junction, NM (Mark, Tim)

What we thought
It’s Corona.

Double Take IPA (L2)

When we had it
We picked up a six pack of this somewhere in New Mexico. (Beth, Brian)

What we thought
Way too malty. No good.

Goose Island IPA (L3)

When we had it
El Paso, hanging out in Tim’s room after Day 1. (Beth, Brian)

What we thought
This is a very good IPA. From the tap it’s one of Beth’s favorites, and it’s reliable in bottle form.

New Belgium Ranger IPA (L2)

When we had it
We had a couple of six packs of this after L2 rides. (Beth, Brian, Tim)

What we thought
A very well-balanced IPA. Beth gives it an A.

New Belgium Fat Tire Amber Ale (L1, L2)

When we had it
Janet’s Montana Cafe (Beth)
The place we ate dinner in Pine Valley (Mark)
Famous Dave’s BBQ (Beth, Brian, Mark)
After almost every ride on L2

What we thought
In the word of Charlie Sheen, “Winning.” Thumbs up from all.

Redhook Long Hammer IPA (L2)

When we had it
One six pack was enjoyed by Beth and Brian after a couple of L2 rides.

What we thought
This used to be Beth’s go-to beer but is being phased out in favor of better IPAs. Still reliable, though.

Michelob Amber Bock (L1)

When we had it
Old Highway Cafe (Beth)

What we thought
It’s Michelob Amber Bock, but it was ice cold. One thumb up.

Mirror Pond Pale Ale (L1, L2)

When we had it
Comfort Suites snack time, March 5th, 2012 (Beth, Brian, Tim)
Tre Rosat Cafe, Silver City, NM (Beth, Brian, Tim)

What we thought
Wow, this is top-notch beer. Really, really good.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (L1)

When we had it
Relaxation time in Salome, March 6th (Beth, Brian, Tim)

What we thought
You can’t go wrong with Sierra Nevada. Not my (Beth’s) favorite but always reliably good.

Shock Top Belgian White (L1)
